Kentucky Firefighter Charged In CPR Training Scheme

A Kentucky firefighter has been charged with 52 criminal offenses related to billing local businesses for CPR training he was paid by his department to deliver.

Timothy Deye, 50, resigned from the Erlanger Fire Department earlier this year after 49 invoices were found on a fire department computer indicating that area businesses were being charged $30 per student per class. The invoices bore the fire department’s logo and city’s tax ID number, but instructed the businesses to make checks payable to Tim Deye, and mail to his home address.

According to Fox19, the checks were deposited into Deye’s personal accounts. He was paid by the city for teaching the classes.

Deye was charged with 49 counts of forgery, as well as theft by deception, official misconduct, and soliciting unlawful compensation.

If the allegations sound familiar, similar allegations were made against an Indiana firefighter, Robert A. Grayless, in 2015. He was with the St. Joseph Township Fire Department, and pled guilty in 2016.
