Detroit Fire Terminates EMS Personnel Over Neglect Of Care Allegation

The Detroit Fire Department has terminated two EMS personnel based on allegations they failed to perform CPR on a 30-year-old man in January. Patrick Clemons was suffering from a heart attack and according to his family, EMS personnel made him walk to the stretcher then then failed to administer aid to him during the transport.

Kentucky Firefighter Charged In CPR Training Scheme

A Kentucky firefighter has been charged with 52 criminal offenses related to billing local businesses for CPR training he was paid by his department to deliver. Timothy Deye resigned from the Erlanger Fire Department earlier this year after invoices were found indicating he was charging area businesses $30 per student per class.

Today’s burning question: I was in your class at FDIC 2014 on Duty to Act, which was a real eye-opener. We were discussing it in the station today and one of the paramedics mentioned a smartphone app called PulsePoint, that can notify you if someone nearby is having a heart attack.
