Exeter Township in Pennsylvania has filed suit against the Exeter Ambulance Association for $52,000 in unpaid fuel and repair bills that have been growing for nearly two years.
Until recently, the EMS provider had been allowed to get fuel at the township’s pumps and have its vehicles serviced by the township. In turn, the ambulance company would reimburse the township for the vehicle expenses, according to the lawsuit. The township claims it has billed the ambulance association for expenses between October 2013 and June 2015 totaling $52,128.69, but those bills have gone unpaid.
In March, 2015 the township made the Exeter Fire Department responsible for EMS response in Exeter. Officials from the ambulance company claim they are unable to pay their bills because they no longer respond to emergency runs. The Reading Eagle reports that the association continues to do routine medical transports, and is in the process of selling it’s building.
The suit was filed in Berks County Court.
