Colorado Announces Investigation into Exam Scandal

The Colorado Division of Fire Safety has announced an investigation into allegations that several certification examinations for firefighters may have been compromised.

Division Director Kevin Klein announced today that an exam proctor may have provided advance copies of certification tests to candidates. The exams were for Firefighter I, Firefighter II, HazMat Operations and Fire Instructor I.

All certification testing has been suspended pending the results of the investigation, and the Division of Fire Safety is consulting with the state Attorney General and local prosecutors to determine if a criminal investigation should be launched.
