A Cuban-American firefighter who claims he was subjected to a harassment on account of his ancestry, religion and disability, has filed suit in state court against Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. Eduardo Mesa claims during his initial recruit academy in 2016, a captain harassed him for a medical condition that caused him to blink and close his eyes frequently.

A Muslim firefighter who claims he suffered years of harassment because of his race and religion, has settled his federal court lawsuit with the city and a lieutenant. Raheem Hassan filed suit earlier this year alleging race discrimination, religious discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, discrimination under state law, discrimination under city law, and violations of his 1st, 4th, 5th and 14th Amendment Rights.

Atlanta Settles With Chief Cochran for $1.2 Million

The City of Atlanta has agreed to settle a wrongful termination and religious discrimination lawsuit brought by former Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran. Chief Cochran was fired by Mayor Kasim Reed in 2015 over a self-published book the chief authored about his religious beliefs. Reed believed the book was critical of homosexuality.
