Court Rejects Claims of Disability Discrimination by Indianapolis Firefighter

An Indianapolis firefighter who was terminated in 2020 for being absent without leave, has lost his federal court lawsuit. S.N. claimed the department violated the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Rehabilitation Act, and 42 U.S.C. § 1983, plus committed wrongful termination, negligent infliction of emotional distress, negligent supervision, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Indy Firefighter Alleges Race Discrimination and Retaliation

An Indianapolis firefighter has filed suit in federal court claiming he was “set up” by co-workers on “fabricated allegations” after he complained about being denied a training opportunity because of his race. Jason Hardister filed suit last week alleging race discrimination and retaliation.

Indy Firefighters Sue over Changes to Health Care

Indianapolis firefighters and police unions have filed suit against the city seeking to block a proposed change in health care. IAFF Local 416 and FOP Lodge 86 claim that the city’s unilateral change from the current Advantage HMO plan to a health saving account violates the terms of their collective bargaining agreements.
