Missouri LODD Widow Sues for Wrongful Death

The widow of a Missouri firefighter killed in the line of duty in February has filed a wrongful death suit against the University of Missouri.

Columbia Fire Department Lt. Bruce Britt died February 22, 2014 while evacuating students out of a university owned apartment building where a walkway had partially collapsed. According to reports, Lt. Britt was on the walkway when the remainder collapsed.

Leigh Britt claims the university officials knew the walkway was in dangerous condition as far back as 2012 and by negligently failing to effect repairs are responsible for her husband’s death. The five page complaint contains a single count of wrongful death and seeks damages in excess of $25,000.00.
