Alabama Firefighter Sentenced to Eight Years On Drug And Computer Charges

An Alabama firefighter has pled guilty to charges of stealing fentanyl from the Dothan Fire Department, as well as twelve counts of computer tampering that he accrued after his drug-related arrest. Jesse Ryan Taylor accepted an 8-year sentence on state law charges.

Taylor was charged with stealing 42 vials of fentanyl from the Dothan Fire Department’s inventory back in 2022. He was also charged with drug trafficking. While on bail, he worked for the Houston County Emergency Management Agency where he allegedly accessed sensitive law enforcement information leading to his arrest on computer tampering charges.

As part of the plea agreement entered into today, the drug trafficking charges were dismissed, leaving the theft and computer tampering charges.
