A third lawsuit has been filed against Kansas City arising out of a triple fatal accident last December involving Pumper 19. The accident killed Jennifer San Nicolas, Michael Elwood, and Tami Knight.
San Nicolas’s family filed a wrongful death lawsuit on February 7, 2022 naming the city of Kansas City and Pumper 19’s driver as defendants. As was the case with the previous two suits, the complaint was filed in Jackson County Circuit Court.
The December 15, 2021 crashed occurred when Pumper 19 and an SUV driven by San Nicolas collided, and according to news reports, their vehicles continued into a “black Ford F-150, a gray Dodge Caliber, a streetlight, a small tree and a bicycle rack, and traveled off the roadway onto the sidewalk, striking pedestrian Tami Knight and the building located at 4050 Broadway.” Elwood was a passenger in San Nicolas’s vehicle.
