Wisconsin Fire Officials Charged With Stealing From Department

A chief officer and the secretary – treasurer of a volunteer fire department in Wisconsin have been arrested and charged with stealing from the department.

Chief Ryne Jackleyn of the Bagley Volunteer Fire Department has been charged with misdemeanor theft, while secretary – treasurer Jodi Moris was charged with felony theft. The charges were brought by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

Chief Jackleyn, 31, of Bagley, and Moris, 57, are accused of stealing roughly $12,500 total, with Jackleyn’s amount being under $2500 and Moris being more than $10,000.

The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation in March after being alerted to suspicious activity by a local banking institution. According to Sheriff Nate Dreckman, the pair were withdrawing previously deposited donations to use for personal expenses. Their next court appearance will be June 7.
