Louisiana Firefighter Files $1 Million Race Discrimination Suit

A former Louisiana firefighter has filed suit claiming that he was forced out of his department after he complained about supervisors making racially insensitive comments. Wilson Clark filed suit last month in US District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana naming the Marrero Estelle Fire Department, Fire Chief Blake Hunter, and Jefferson Parish President Mike Yenni as defendants.

Clark, who is representing himself pro-se, claims he initially asked supervisors to refrain from making racially insensitive remarks. Thereafter, the remarks increased forcing him to leave the department. The complaint alleges race discrimination and retaliation, and seeks $1 million in damages.
