YCMTSU Ghana National Fire Service

You know, YCMTSU is not just a phenomenon associated with the American fire service. A story emerging out of the Ghana National Fire Service is about as bizarre as any I have heard. Let me do my best to explain the facts while maintaining some semblance of decorum.

A fire officer with the Brong-Ahafo Regional Fire Command, Ghana National Fire Service apparently had his manhood bitten… while on duty… by a subordinate… who claims he tried to rape her. The incident was serious enough to require medical treatment for the fire officer, a police investigation of the sexual assault charges, and the suspension of the officer while the allegations are being investigated.

According to ghanakasa.com, the incident occurred in mid-September in the Brong-Ahafo Region. Techiman Municipal Fire Officer Eric Ansah told police that his girlfriend, Ataa Takyi, bit his penis during a visit to her quarters.

Takyi is a subordinate of Ansah and denies she is his girlfriend. She claims he tried to force himself on her and used his position to threaten her. Takyi was quoted by ghanakasa.com as saying:

  • “I resisted initially and later he threatened me saying he is the commander and so anything he wants he gets it; and because he said that I got scared he would do something bad to me.”
  • “Being afraid of losing my job, I decided to give in with a different motive to defend myself.”
  • “I told him I am ready and so he should do whatever he wants to do with me; but after romancing with him for three minutes, I grabbed his penis and bit it hard.”

The bite led to massive bleeding and caused Ansah to collapse. He was taken to the hospital, and remains suspended while the investigation plays itself out. More on the story.
