A Texas firefighter who posted remarks on Facebook that supported the sport shooting Latinos crossing the border has been terminated from two fire departments that he served with. Nevada Firefighter Union Sued By Mayoral Candidate

A Nevada man who ran an unsuccessful campaign for mayor of the town of Fernley has filed suit against a firefighters’ union that he claims defamed him during the campaign. Ryan Hanan filed suit last month accusing IAFF Local 4547, North Lyon County Firefighters Association, of defaming him on Facebook by posting false statements about his service as a firefighter.

Captain Tim Goodman was suspended and later terminated over Facebook posts that were characterized as “xenophobic and racist” by the Council on American-Islamic Relations of Michigan.

A New Hampshire firefighter who was fired in 2015 over a Facebook discussion, just got some good news: the American Civil Liberties Union is taking up his cause. Alex Morin was terminated from the Farmington Fire Department days after he and another firefighter questioned the appropriateness of citizens posting incident related comments on Facebook.
