RI Union President Sues Town

Another lawsuit has been filed in the ongoing battle between the firefighters and the town administration in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. IAFF Local 3328 union president William Perry filed suit against the town, Town Council President Sue Cieniki, Town Manager Gail Corrigan, and Finance Director Linda Dykeman alleging violations of the Rhode Island Civil Rights Act and the Rhode Island Fair Employment Practices Act.

Amanda Benson, a firefighter with Lincoln Fire and Rescue, filed suit in state court against the City of Lincoln, the mayor, the public safety director, the HR director, the fire chief, two BCs, and two captains.

A veteran San Bruno firefighter has filed suit against the City of San Bruno and four firefighters accusing them of creating a sexually hostile work environment dating back to 2010. Jon Priolo filed suit in San Mateo County Superior Court naming the city, Ben Minkin, Tyler Charles, Sean Berube and Chris De La Cruz as defendants.

The City of Aurora, Colorado has agreed to settle a race discrimination suit brought by probationary firefighters who washed out of the department during their first year for $480,000. The suit was filed in 2015 by two lateral hire firefighters who relocated from Kansas and Florida to Colorado to join the Aurora Fire Department.
