Illinois Firefighter Facing Drug and Theft Charges

An Illinois firefighter who broke into a vehicle at one Naperville Fire Department station, and stole drugs from the fire department’s prescription drug drop-box at a different station, has been arrested and formally charged with several offenses. Zachary Volland, 34, has been charged with burglary of a vehicle, theft, possession of a controlled substance, and official misconduct.

Judge Upholds Illinois Vaccine Mandate

A federal district court judge has upheld a vaccine mandate ordered by Illinois Governor Jay Robert Pritzker, from a challenge brought by six Naperville firefighters. The lawsuit filed in September claimed the vaccine mandate exceeded the governor’s authority, and violated the firefighters’ constitutional rights.

Firefighter Vaccine Lawsuits in the Headlines

Firefighter vaccine lawsuits are once again in the Fire Law headlines. In Los Angeles County, a group of 574 firefighters filed suit to challenge the county’s vaccine mandate. The suit was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court by LA County Free Foundation alleging a violation of the employees’ due process and privacy rights.
