A Los Angeles County firefighter who was terminated following a positive drug test has filed suit claiming the results were a false positive due to a lawfully prescribed medication he was taking for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Joseph Allen was fired on May 17, 2022 following a random test on April 14, 2022.

Oklahoma FD Sued Over Meth-Related Death

The father of a Oklahoma man who died after ingesting methamphetamine, has filed suit against a number of agencies including the responding fire department, claiming each was somehow responsible for his son’s death. Carl Adams filed suit against the Sperry Police Department, Tulsa County Sheriff’s Department, St. John's Health System, Inc., and the Country Corner Fire Department.

Can a Firefighter Violate a Person’s Fourth Amendment Rights?

Today’s burning question: I know that police can violate a person’s Fourth Amendment rights by conducting a search without a warrant, but can a firefighter? Answer: The 4th Amendment is not limited to police officers but applies to searches by government. I know we don’t think of ourselves this way, but firefighters are governmental agents and thus the 4th Amendment does apply to us.
