NY Volunteer Alleges Dismissal Violates His Civil Rights

A volunteer firefighter in New York who was dismissed for allegedly missing three consecutive monthly meetings, has filed suit claiming First Amendment, due process and equal protection violations. Keith Davis filed suit in federal court naming the Commack Fire Department, the Commack Fire District, the fire chief, the executive board, and the fire commissioners as defendants.

Asiana Airlines Crash Suit Against SFFD Dismissed

The wrongful death suit against the San Francisco Fire Department arising out of the crash of Asiana Airlines Flight 214 in July, 2013, has been dismissed. The parents of 16 year old Ye Meng Yuan filed the suit last year. Yuan was allegedly written off as dead as SFFD began foam operations. The suit claimed that her body was struck by two San Francisco Fire Department vehicles.

Texas Firefighter Loses Suit Over Discrimination and Due Process

A McAllen, Texas firefighter who was fired twice and reinstated both times has lost a discrimination and due process lawsuit against his department and fire chief. Last February, Robert Vargus sued McAllen and Chief Rafael Balderas alleging discrimination and harassment on account of age and disability and §1983 due process violations.
