A volunteer fire department in New York is facing a defamation suit over the application of a man who claims he was falsely accused of being a “child molester”. Vincent C. Stevenson applied to join the East Syracuse Fire Department in 2012. He claims that an employee of the village fire department, Dawn Cramer, falsely accused him of being a "child molester."

Use of Firefighter’s Photo In Sex Scandal Story Prompts Suit

A decorated Philadelphia firefighter is suing the New York Daily News claiming that in January when the paper was covering a major sex scandal in the Philadelphia Fire Department, it wrongly used his photo and name implying he was somehow involved. Francis Cheney II filed suit against the paper in Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas on February 11, 2015. The case was removed to US District Court last week by the Daily News.

Massachusetts Suit Removed to Federal Court

A lawsuit filed last month in state court by four Massachusetts firefighters has been removed to federal court by attorneys retained for the defense by the Massachusetts Interlocal Insurance Agency. The suit was filed on September 2, 2014 by four former members of the Groton Fire Department.
