South Dakota Firefighter Who Traveled to Ukraine Suspended

A volunteer firefighter from South Dakota was suspended by his department while he was providing humanitarian assistance in Ukraine. Greg Zimmerman learned he was suspended by the Wentworth Fire Department while overseas.

Zimmerman was volunteering in Ukraine through Project Joint Guardian. He reportedly spent most of his time dealing with body recoveries. Zimmerman, an electrical engineer, is now back at home. Project Joint Guardian is a non-profit group of firefighters who are providing assistance to Ukraine.
