Illinois Battalion Chiefs Seek Pension Credit

Two Illinois battalion chiefs have filed suit claiming that their pensions ought to include credit for time they served prior to the establishment of the pension.

Battalion Chiefs Michael Majercik and Joseph Krueger allege that a pension plan established in August, 2011 by the McHenry Township Fire Protection District should have granted them credit for service back to their original date of hire. The pair were hired as full time employees in May, 2006.

The lawsuit was filed on December 6, 2013 in McHenry County Circuit Court, 22nd Judicial District. The complaint does not seek damages but rather a court order instructing the township to credit the paid with five additional years of service.
