FDNY Firefighter Accused of Hate Crime Against Mailman

An FDNY firefighter has been charged with assaulting a black mailman in what is alleged to be a racially based hate-crime.

According to the NY Post, Luke Schreiner, 49, approached the mailman last  Wednesday in Gerritsen Beach and said “You want to get smacked today?” and “You are a f—–g n—-r.” According to reports, he struck the mailman in the face.

Schreiner is now facing hate crime offenses, criminal mischief, attempted assault, and menacing. He has been suspended from FDNY.
