Court Dismisses Wrongful Death Suit Against DeKalb County Fire Rescue

The US District Court for the Northern District of Georgia has dismissed a lawsuit brought by the mother of a man who died after exhibiting “excited delirium” and being sedated by DeKalb County Fire Rescue. Yvonne West brought suit against DeKalb County, a fire captain, four firefighters, and four police officers over the death of Jamon West in 2019.

Court Upholds Ruling that FDNY Not Liable for Patient’s Death

The Appellate Division of the New York Supreme Court has upheld a trial court ruling dismissing New York City and FDNY from an EMS-related wrongful death suit. The case will proceed against New York Presbyterian Hospital, who employed the medics accused of sedating Peter Artemiou which led to his cardiac arrest.

Man Accuses Los Angeles City Medics of Malpractice

A man who claims he was improperly treated by Los Angeles City Fire Department paramedics, has filed suit claiming they administered medications that caused him permanent injuries. The man, identified in the complaint as John Doe, filed suit pro se in Los Angeles County Superior Court naming the City of Los Angeles, the two medics, and the hospital to which he was transported.

Suit Accuses Colorado Fire Department of Ketamine-Related Civil Rights Violation

A Colorado man who was arrested following a traffic stop in 2019, has filed suit against a fire department medic and several police officers for their roles in his arrest. Steven Reycraft filed suit today in US District Court naming the Manitou Springs Fire Department, Paramedic Ashley Wardell, four Manitou Springs police officers, the City of Manitou Springs, and a doctor/medical director.
