LA County Fire Sued for $10.4 Million Over Restraint of Seizure Patient

A man who claims he was handcuffed and restrained while having an epileptic seizure has filed a $10.4 million suit against the California Highway Patrol and Los Angeles County Fire Department. Jason Cook is seeking is damages from the State of California, five CHP officers, LA County, four firefighters, a captain and the fire chief for physical, psychological, and emotional injuries he claims are severe.

San Francisco Medic Facing Criminal Charges Over Restraint Of Patient

A San Francisco Fire Department paramedic is facing criminal charges and a San Francisco police officer has been fired over the restraint of a suicidal female. Medic Raymond Lee, 46, and San Francisco police officer Michael Filamor responded to a call from the woman’s mother who reported her daughter was threatening to harm herself.

Georgia FD EMT Sued Over Positional Asphyxia Death

A fire department EMT and two sheriff’s deputies from Coweta County, Georgia have been sued for violating the civil rights of a man who died of positional asphyxia while being restrained. Chase Sherman died on November 20, 2015 after being tased and subdued by Coweta County responders on I85 in Coweta County.
