Family Sues Long Island Fire Department Over Theft Allegations

The family of an elderly Long Island volunteer firefighter who was accused of stealing cash from a fundraiser several year ago, is suing the fire company claiming the man had Alzheimer’s. John BaRoss Sr., 80, and a 50 year veteran of the Greenlawn Fire Department, was banned after being accused of pocketing cash while selling pizza at the annual Fireman’s Fair.

Camden Firefighter Convicted of Pension Fraud

A Camden firefighter who claimed to be disabled has been found guilty of second-degree theft by deception by a Camden County jury. Shane B. Streater claimed that job related back and neck injuries prevented him from continuing to work as a firefighter in Camden.

A New York fire chief has been charged with grand larceny for allegedly stealing gasoline from his fire department. Fire Chief Duane Royal of the Pennellville Volunteer Fireman’s Association is accused of stealing $2700 worth of gas following an audit and investigation.

NC Chief Arrested for Embezzlement

A North Carolina fire chief has been arrested and charged with embezzling nearly $20,000 from his fire department. Jesse Raymon Hoshall, III was arrested last week by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. He was fire chief of the Scotch-Irish Fire Department, located in an unincorporated area in Rowan County called Woodleaf.

Connecticut Firefighter Charged With Embezzlement

A Connecticut firefighter has been charged with embezzling funds from his fire department’s cadet program. Jason Kordys was in charge of an Explorer program for the Wolcott Volunteer Fire Department. Kordys, 33, is accused of making 180 fraudulent transactions amounting to $2,948.29
