Ohio City Sued Over Handling of Outdoor Cooking Incident

The City of Lyndhurst, Ohio is being sued over a 2018 incident in which police and firefighters ordered a couple to stop cooking outside because the smoke was bothering their neighbors. Emad Alabasi and Yana Alabasi filed suit last week in federal court claiming the city is discriminating against them because of their national origin.

Homeowner Wants City to Pay for Door Damaged by Firefighters

Today’s burning question: Last March when I went out shopping, firefighters were called to my house and broke down my door. Apparently my neighbor called because my wood burning stove created a lot of smoke. The door cost me $2,000 to fix. Can I make the city or the firefighters pay?
