Mobile Firefighter Terminated Over Tattoo Files Discrimination Suit

The Mobile firefighter who was fired last year over a tattoo, has filed suit against the city alleging race, gender, sexual orientation and religion discrimination; hostile work environment; retaliation; and violation of the Equal Protection clause of the 14th Amendment. Kay’Ana Adams filed suit today in US District Court for the Southern District of Alabama.

Chicago Non-Conforming Gender Harassment Suit to Proceed

A lawsuit filed by a Chicago firefighter who claims he was sexually harassed and discriminated against by the department and a female deputy chief, will continue following a refusal by the trial judge to dismiss the city from the action. James Mundo filed suit last year claiming that the city, and a deputy chief discriminated against him in violation of Title VII, 42 U.S.C. § 1983 (Monell), and the Illinois Gender Violence Act.

A former EMT with the San Francisco Fire Department is suing the department and several of her colleagues for discrimination on the basis of her sexual orientation. Jennifer Galarza filed suit in San Francisco County Superior Court alleging she was wrongfully terminated and harassed because she is a lesbian.

Providence Fire Faces Another Sexual Harassment Suit

The Providence Fire Department is facing another federal court lawsuit by a female officer alleging sexual harassment and discrimination. Rescue Captain Danielle Masse claims she was harassed by coworkers and ultimately disciplined by the department on account of her gender, her sexual orientation, and in retaliation for testifying for another female officer.
