NY Assistant Chief Prevails on Due Process Challenge to His Dismissal

A federal judge has ruled that a NY fire district violated the due process rights of a volunteer assistant chief by terminating him in 2013 without notice and a hearing. William J. Ratajack Jr. was terminated from the Brewster Fire Department and the Brewster-Southeast Joint Fire District in part for directing the "N-word" at two white subordinates.

RI Supreme Court Hears Arguments in Gay Pride Parade Suit

The Rhode Island Supreme Court heard the appeal of the City of Providence today in the decade long lawsuit arising out of the 2001 Gay Pride Parade. Two Providence firefighters ordered to participate in the parade filed suit claiming a violation of their First Amendment Rights and that during the course of the parade they were sexually harassed.
