Chicago Non-Conforming Gender Harassment Suit to Proceed

A lawsuit filed by a Chicago firefighter who claims he was sexually harassed and discriminated against by the department and a female deputy chief, will continue following a refusal by the trial judge to dismiss the city from the action. James Mundo filed suit last year claiming that the city, and a deputy chief discriminated against him in violation of Title VII, 42 U.S.C. § 1983 (Monell), and the Illinois Gender Violence Act.

Minnesota Firefighter Claims Sexual Orientation Discrimination

A Battalion Chief in Eagan, Minnesota has filed suit against his fire chief claiming he was demoted to firefighter on account of his sexual orientation. Daniel Benson claims he was demoted to firefighter after being required to reapply for his position and disclosing he was married to a man.

Connecticut Fire Department Sued For Sex, Race and Ethnicity Discrimination

A male firefighter with the Danbury, Connecticut Fire Department is suing the city, Mayor Bernard Meehan, a deputy chief, the present fire chief, the past fire chief and his union alleging sex discrimination/harassment, race discrimination and ethnicity discrimination. Reynoldo Rodriguez, who describes himself as being “of Puerto Rican-American Hispanic descent”, filed an 81 page - 236 paragraph – 12 count complaint earlier this year.
