PA Ambulance Driver Pleads Guilty to Manslaughter

A Pennsylvania ambulance driver pled guilty this week to homicide charges related to a vehicle accident that resulted in the deaths of two people, including his passenger-patient. On Monday, Jeffrey R. Gable, of the Trust Ambulance pled guilty to two counts of involuntary manslaughter, reckless endangerment, aggravated assault by vehicle, and three summary traffic violations.

A man who leaped out of the back of a moving FDNY ambulance is now suing the city, FDNY and EMS personnel for his injuries. Yaugeni Kralkin, claims that EMS personnel did not do enough to restrain him as he was being transported to the hospital. Kralkin admits he had been drinking heavily.

Las Vegas Fire Facing Two Federal Court Wrongful Death Suits Over EMS Response

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue is facing two federal lawsuits alleging the city’s EMS dispatch policy was responsible for the deaths of two victims in 2014. The suits were brought on behalf of John Benjamin Kraai and Brandon Charles Pickford and allege substantially the same thing: the failure to dispatch American Medical Response (AMR) units in both instances led to their deaths.

NY Fire Department Sued for Wrongful Death in Football Case

A fire department in upstate New York has been sued following the death of a high school football player from injuries he sustained in a game. Damon James, 16, died on September 16, 2013 and according to the suit, the fire department refused to bring an ambulance onto the field “putting concerns about property damage ahead of the lives and safety of student athletes.”
