Two Akron Firefighters Investigated for Making Firehouse Porn YCMTSU

Two Akron firefighters who “were known to be in a long-term relationship” have been relieved of duty as the city investigates allegations that they made a porn video in one of the city’s firehouses. Ellen Lander Nischt, a spokesperson for Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan, confirmed the allegations and the investigation today. The video was reportedly posted online.

Akron Fire’s Promotional Paralysis Case Settled

A nine-year long dispute that has held up promotions in the Akron Fire Department is finally over with news that the city has agreed to pay 23 firefighters $1.04 million in back pay and interest. The suit, Howe et al v. City of Akron, was filed in November, 2006 by 31 firefighters alleging that a 2004 promotional test was discriminatory against black candidates for lieutenant and white candidates for captain.

Akron Facing Contempt for Promotional Paralysis Solution

The Akron Fire Department is facing possible contempt proceedings over its efforts to negotiate a new promotional process with Akron Firefighters, IAFF Local 330.
