South Carolina County Sues Fire District

In a move that was not-unexpected, Florence County, South Carolina has filed suit in 12th Circuit Court of Common Pleas against the West Florence Fire District seeking to block the fire district’s existence. The suit follows the county’s failed attempt to file a similar suit at the South Carolina Supreme Court level.

    State Legislature passes a private law re-creating the West Florence District.

    Maybe I’m taking my civics lessons from 1970s public service messages during Saturday morning cartoons, but I’m pretty sure state legislative action trumps county council desires.
